I've been slowly building up my running this fall after a long time off. I have run a few 5k races, and am preparing for a 10k over Thanksgiving. I just signed up for a bit of a stretch goal, though. It's an 8 mile race called the Uwharrie Mountain Run. I probably should have guessed this from the name, but the elevation gain on the course is insane. I count about 1100ft of elevation gain in 8 miles. This could be one of the more challenging 8 milers I've ever done. There is a 20 mile and 40 mile version, but that would be pushing things way too soon for me. Some of my running partners will be doing those longer runs, though. Should be a quality race. It's good to have goals to push for.
